Sigmund Maximus Shirley (born January 28th, 1980) is an accomplished metallurgist who holds a M.S. in materials science. He is best known for his research in material synthesis and his efforts in developing new alloys and periodic elements.

Early life

Shirley was born on January 28th 1980, the son of Sergei Joshua Shirley and Selma Marilyn Shirley. His parents emigrated from Bremen, Germany in 1974 after facing intense backlash for their research of alchemical transmutation. They eventually moved to a suburban neighborhood in Kent, Ohio, where Shirley was born and raised. Shirley made the decision to attend Kent State University after taking interest in his parents' research. He worked as a cashier at Guy's Pizza, a local pizza parlor in Kent, in order to afford tuition. During his time at the university, Shirley became colleagues and close friends with William Pepper before the two had a falling out due to unknown circumstances.

Accomplishments

After earning his degree, Shirley went on to create a new metallic alloy, Sigmium, which proved to be comparable if not superior to titanium.

He has since started a project known as the "Shirley Initiative," hoping to synthesize what would hypothetically be the 119th element of the Periodic Table. Members of the Bauble Coalition have taken interest in this project, but Shirley has made it publicly known that he will abstain from their support, likely due to his previous falling out with Dr. William Pepper, who is also associated with the coalition.
